In order to put your mind at rest when considering your wine needs, we've put together this brief guide to help you in your wine selection process.
  • What type of wine should you serve at your wedding?
  • How much wine will you need?
  • What about wine and food combinations.
  • Having wine available at the bar.
  • Other alcoholic beverages to consider.

What type of wine should you choose?

Red, white and sparkling wines are commonly found at weddings. Red and white accompany dinner, with sparkling wine used as an aperitif or for after-dinner toasts.

JUST Cabernet Sauvignon (red) and JUST Chardonnay (white) are excellent choices to serve at your wedding. Tasty and affordable, these quality French wines are sure to please all palates.

Great sparkling wine selections for those special toasts are available to choose from. Remy Pannier Sparkling Chardonnay offers the world's most popular grape variety (Chardonnay) in a crisp, dry, elegant style.

How much wine will you need?

While exact amounts will ultimately depend on the size of your party, we suggest a ratio of 2 to 3 bottles of red wine per table to each bottle of white wine. Red wine tends to be consumed in greater quantities than white during reception dinners (approximate ratio of 2 red to 1 white). In terms of individual amounts, 8 to 10 ounces per individual, on average, should work well.

To calculate the amount of wine you will need, use the following simple formula:
Number of guests multiplied by 8 ounces divided by 25 oz. per bottle = number of bottles.

What about wine and food combinations?

Traditional wisdom says, "red wine with red meat and white wine for white meat and fish." But this certainly isn’t carved in stone. Some red wines will work well with fish. With many reception dinners featuring chicken and veal, both white and light bodied red wine will fit the bill. See our wine recommendations for more details.

Having wine available at the bar.

Wine is one of the most popular alcoholic beverages in Canada. Your bar should be stocked with at least one red and one white. Having a sparkling wine available as well brings an added touch of elegance and variety.

Other Alcoholic Beverages to consider?

Spirits including rye, vodka, rum, scotch and gin will also be needed for a properly stocked bar. For something extra special why not request Europa Lemon Meringue Dutch Cream, Cortel VSOP brandy and Roberto Cavalli Premium Vodka to be stocked as well (they’re available at regular LCBO stores). These top-quality products will make your reception even more memorable.

Cheers and congratulations!
