In structure, finesse and precision, this is arguably Alpha Estate’s best ever.It is also very different than the richer and sexier 2012 in style. Silky, crisp and Burgundian in style, this 2013 seemed rather brilliant and not quite as understated in terms of power as some years can be, although it is still impeccably balanced. It is focused and the finish is tense, but never overwhelming.
“This flagship Xinomavro ffrom Amyndeo region is sourced from old ungrafted vines, giving very low yields and thus dense fruit. Alpha Reserve possesses a deep ruby colour, aromatic complexity of plums, cherries and tometo-like vegetality, backed-up by firm, yet ripe tannins, freshness and high acidity”- (94points) Mark Squires, eRobertParker.com
ALPHA ESTATE is located at the northwest part of Greece, the Amyndeon, Florina region. Alpha Estate was founded in 1997 by the experienced viticulturist Makis Mavridis and chemist-oenologist Angelos Iatridis, who, after years of experience in various locations of Greece, chose the Amyndeon region to create his own wine.
