METHOD : Careful cultivation, ploughing, trellising
SELECTION : Plot selection for SYRAH, GRENACHE and MOURVEDRE varieties.
HARVEST : Grapes have been harvested by hand, at optimal ripness, and carefully selected.
YIELD : 45 HL/Hectare.
METHOD OF VINIFICATION: Carbonic maceration and classical vinification (destemmed crop).
AGEING AND PACKAGING : Aged in vat. Estate bottled in labelled “Roquebrun” bottles.
This classic Rhone-style grenache-syrah-mourvedre blend has a deep, lustrous and inky colour. The nose offers crushed red fruit, wild herbs and a hint of smoke and mocha notes. The palate is rich and ripe, with a supple tannic structure and multi-layered texture.
Cave de Roquebrun was established in 1968 and is the biggest producer in St. Chinian. AOC status In 1982 in recognition of the quality of the wines. The warm climate in the south of France is perfect for ripening “big red” grapes like grenache and mourvedre. The Roquebrun commitment to quality and value shows: Alain Rogier was named Winemaker of the Year in 2016 by the International Wine Challenge and the La Grange des Combes has won a string of awards and medals.
