Leese-Fitch Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

The Wine

The vineyards we incorporate in this blend continue to reach to new corners of California with each vintage, adding complexity to the wine. The Lodi fruit contributes plum and cassis characteristics, and round, supple tannins. The Clarksburg fruit adds cold climate nuances in the form of powerful tannins, zesty lime and tart raspberry notes. A significant new component of the blend is Merlot from Mendocino, showing bright acidity, savory herbs and brilliant cherry. The Ruby Cab and Rubired from Lodi add beautiful color in the glass and depth to the mid palate. Lodi Zinfandel helps balance the tannins and adds brambly fruit and complexity. Finally, the Clarksburg Petite Sirah makes its way into the mix for color and depth.

Tasting Notes

Showcasing a dark garnet hue with purple edges, this Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits enticing aromas of blackberry cobbler, dark cherry, toasted coconut, nutmeg, and violets with hints of clove and muddled raspberries on the nose. Layered flavors of black currants, pomegranate reduction, tart cherry, mocha chocolate notes and dark caramel fill the palate. The finish shows hints of toasted coconut and rich vanilla nuances which balance out the dark fruit nicely. Great partner for grilled or braised beef dishes.

The Winery

The wines of Leese-Fitch are wines that celebrate the deep heritage of California embodied in the iconic Leese-Fitch Adobe built in the 1830s and still at home in the historic town of Sonoma, California today. More than simple wines from California, these wines classically represent each varietal from which they are made.
