Loukatos Mavrodaphne of Patras PDO 2015

The Wine

Greece’s, “port like,” medium sweet red wine, produced from grapes grown in the northwestern region of Achaia.

Tasting Notes

“A rather sweet iteration of Mavrodaphne, soft, gentle and delicious, with very tasty fruit and that rush of sugar… shows beautifully for its style and youth. With time and air, the sugar integrates and it shows more brightness and character while remaining delicious and aromatic.” (90 points) – robertparker.com

The Winery

The distillery was founded in 1962 by Loukatos Brothers and was one of the first distilleries of both, Patras and Greece. The initial spirits produced were the traditional Ouzo, Brandy and Tentoura – the famous liqueur of Patras.Today, LOUKATOS BROS has passed on to the second generation, who continue the production of the traditional recipes as well as the a wide range of new alcoholic spirits and liqueurs and of course great quality wines –such as Mavrodaphne and Muscat of Patras. Maintaining a 50 year tradition in the process and technique of fine distillation, Loukatos continuously improve and seek new ways to better serve the premium domestic and international markets.
